American West Heritage Center has increase in revenue from previous years

The American West Heritage Center in Wellsville had a significant increase in revenue this season compared to years prior.

“Membership numbers and attendees are up from last year,” said Rebecca Getz who is the marketing manager at the center.

Getz attributes the increase in attendance to the effort her and her team have put forth in advertising.

“We do a lot of advertising in local newspapers,” Getz said. “For major events we will hit the big news stations and for our fall events we use a lot of social media.”

Getz said the American West Heritage Center is well known among locals but the new residents, especially students, don’t know much about it.

“Very slowly people are figuring out what we do.” Getz said. “We are a well-kept secret, though we don’t want to be.”

The American West Heritage Center is a functioning farm which allows it to grow its own hay and alfalfa.

“We are self-sufficient as far as feeding the animals goes,” said Chance Getz who is the farm manager. “We grow our own food for the animals which saves us a lot of money we would have spent.”

The event that brought in the most revenue this year was Baby Animal Days, which happened in the spring.
